Backcountry began in 1996 in a garage in Park City, Utah. Although they’ve grown a lot since then, their vision is still clear: to provide the best outdoor gear in the market—and to be the best at doing it.

Their goal

Backcountry came to Meriwether Group because they needed executive level knowledge and experience in the athletic and outdoor industry to help them launch their first ever, private label–branded outerwear line for men and women.

How we helped

As an extended member of the C-suite team, Meriwether Group provided Backcountry with a lead merchant to help visualize the category, identify opportunities in the market, then create the line plan to include the number of styles, SKUs and price points for both genders.

The result

Backcountry launched the category using a white label outerwear brand that has since evolved into the Backcountry outerwear offering you can find on their website today.
